It is important to us that you feel confident in how we handle your personal data. In this Privacy Policy, we describe how and why we collect and process personal data.

How Piteå Science Park Handles Personal Data

Piteå Science Park, which operates Go Business, is dedicated to promoting development in Piteå’s key sectors: cultural and creative industries, cleantech, and high-tech materials. Through our three core activities—the innovation arena, incubator, and concert hall—we bring together different perspectives and expertise to generate new ideas that strengthen and enhance both Piteå and northern Sweden.

To fulfill our mission, we often need to collect and process personal data. It is important to us that you feel confident in how we handle your personal information. In this Privacy Policy, we outline how and why we collect and process personal data.

Our approach to data handling:

  • We always strive to store as little personal data as possible.
  • We only collect the data necessary to perform a task.
  • We retain data for the shortest time possible, depending on the necessity of the service or purpose for which it was collected.
  • Piteå Science Park is the data controller responsible for processing personal data within our operations.
  • Piteå Science Park may only process personal data on one of the legal grounds specified in data protection regulations. For each instance of personal data processing, we are required to inform you about the applicable legal basis.

The following legal bases are the most commonly applicable when Piteå Science Park processes personal data:

  • The processing of personal data may be based on your consent, for example, when you submit an application, register for an event, or subscribe to our newsletter.
  • It may also be necessary to fulfill an agreement with you, such as when you participate in one or more of our programs, projects, or clusters.

When you submit an application or registration for a workshop, event, program, project, or cluster, you consent to the processing of your personal data.

The data is retained only for as long as necessary to carry out the workshop or event, or to provide you with relevant information while you participate in our projects, clusters, or programs.

In some cases, personal data must be stored for a longer period due to requirements from funding partners. For example, in EU-funded projects, there is a mandatory archiving period of up to 10 years.

Piteå Science Park is a municipal company, which means that any information submitted to us becomes a public record and may be disclosed in accordance with the principle of public access to official documents.

Data handling for newsletters

Data handling for employees and contractors

Piteå Science Park retains personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. Personal data related to employees is registered in payroll and HR systems and is stored for the duration of the employment. Certain personal data may be retained after employment ends, particularly when archiving is required as part of specific projects or legal obligations.

Data handling for third-party service providers

At times, Piteå Science Park may need to share personal data with external service providers to facilitate the services we have contracted them to perform. If a third-party provider processes personal data on behalf of Piteå Science Park, we always establish a Data Processing Agreement with the provider. This agreement specifies how the data may be handled and ensures that the provider complies with applicable data protection laws.
